“So many choices, so little time!”
Canine pals, you’ve got to take a sniff of the menu at the new Dog Stick Library at the North End! The other day, my person, Terri Gorman, and I walked over to try out the neighborhood’s doggie bistro.
Why, there are sticks of all sizes, tennis balls and even a frisbee—all for us dog’s taking. And you don’t have to leave a stick behind!
There’s even a little bird house box on top full of doggy bags for our people to use to scoop our poop. That made me and my person, Terri Gorman bark a lot because we work hard at LRNow to make sure that folks scoop the poop to keep our rivers clean.
Head Librarian, human Gina Foresta, offered me taste tests of any sticks and gear that I wanted to try, and she didn’t even tell me to “sit.”
What do you think of this tennis ball?

In the end I grabbed an angular stick perfect for chewing on all day. And I also snagged a bright red tennis ball, aged just right for my canine tastes.
Gina’s dog Obi is chief watchman at the library. Obi doesn’t like sticks, but he does like his job, Gina told me.
“I just pee on it,” Obi barked.

In case you don’t know, that’s dog language for “this really is Obi’s Dog Stick Library.”
Gina said the library was built out of an old wooden palette by her friend, Joel Mednick. That made my person Terri Gorman so happy.
“Repurposed materials!” Terri said with an arf, arf. “That’s good for the environment!”
The Dog Stick Library marquee was painted by Gina, who, in addition to serving as dog stick librarian, also is an artist among other things.
Gina told me she saw the idea on the Internet. It is a take-off on the little free libraries that pop up in neighborhoods.
I think a stick library is a much better idea than a book library, Gina. I give it five stars!
Arf, arf, arf, arf, arf.
