Contest Guidelines Overview

  • All photos must be taken within Virginia Beach
  • Entry period runs from Saturday, March 7, 2026 12:00 am to Saturday, April 18, 2026 11:59 pm.
  • Entries can be from before or during the contest time period.
  • Must be your own original, non-AI generated work. Basic color editing (cropping, exposure, color correction) is allowed.
  • The general public, LRNow employees and LRNow board members can enter up to 5 photos in the contest. Winners will be chosen from a general public pool of entries and another set of winners will be chosen from the employees/board members pool of entries.
  • Please designate which photo category you are entering each photo into:
    • Wildlife
    • Landscape
    • Humans & the Environment
    • Conservation & Sustainability.
  • Please submit entries via email to emilyw@lrnow.org as either a photo file attachment or a download link.
    • Name each file using this format: LastName_FirstName_Category_PhotoTitle
    • See file format, size, resolution and dimension requirements in the complete contest rules.
  • Each photograph also requires its own completed entry form.
  • Winners will be announced by the end of April. The general public pool of entries will have one overall winner and one winner per category. The employee/board member pool will have one overall winner and, depending on the number of entries, may have one winner per category.
  • Winning photos will be featured in the following places:
    • LRNow website
    • LRNow social media
    • at the 2026 LRNow oyster roast fundraiser event
    • in the 2027 LRNow annual report
