In collaboration with the Virginia Arts Fringe Festival and the ViBe Creative District, Lynnhaven River NOW will be celebrating Mega Arts Weekend in Virginia Beach’s Vibe Creative District May 12-14th, Mother’s Day weekend. The Lynnhaven River Now Art of Saving the River Festival will feature 40 participating artists who have created beautiful nature-inspired artwork. LRN is hosting the Art Festival to celebrate their 15th Anniversary and to promote the arts in the ViBe Creative District. The weekend will include live music and performances, art demonstrations, children’s activities, Old Beach Farmers Market and beautiful artwork–This is surely a one-of-a-kind weekend event that you won’t want to miss!

Fringe Festival Schedule:

Friday, May 12th:

5-7pm Lynnhaven River Now: Private VIP Reception and Juried Art Exhibition (Corner of 18th St & Mediterranean Ave, private lot)

8-10pm: VAF Fringe Fest featured band: Town Mountain Band (Fringe Tent in ViBe Park at 18th & Cypress Ave)
Described as “100-proof bluegrass with a honky-tonk chaser,” this hard-charging band from Asheville NC has fans and music critics raving!

10pm-12am Late Night @ Croc’s 19th Street Bistro; featured band: Dustin Furlow & Matt Thomas (Corner of 19th St & Cypress Ave)

Saturday, May 13th:

8am-12pm Old Beach Farmers Market, Art Market and Green Market (Corner of 19th St & Cypress Ave, Croc’s parking lot). Local music TBD.

10 am – 7 pm Lynnhaven River Now– Art of Saving the River Festival featuring local bluegrass musicians and 40 fine artists (18th St Parklet and street between Cypress and Mediterranean Avenues)
Join us at the Parklet from 3-5pm and enjoy music from local musician Joe McMurray. Joe is a blues, jazz, acoustic guitarist/singer-songwriter and music teacher based in Virginia Beach.  He puts on an exciting live performance packed to the brim with hair-raising instrumental virtuosity and soul.  His setlist includes radio hits, blues, rock, bossa novas, jazz standards, Disney tunes, bluegrass, country, and more!  Check him out at www.joemcmurray.com.

 

 

11am-2pm Marty C Moore @ Java Surf Cafe & Espresso Bar(corner of 19th and Mediterranean)
Marty Moore is a solo acoustic cover act.

8-10pm VAF Fringe Fest featured band: Red Baraat (Fringe Tent in ViBe Park at 18th & Cypress Ave)
“The best party band in years” (NPR) drives fans wild with their blend of jazz, hiphop beats, rock muscle, funky go-go, and scalding hot bhangra. Dare you not to dance!

10pm-12am Late Night @ Croc’s featured band: Be Steadwell (Corner of 19th St & Cypress Ave)
This queerpop artist specializes in vocal layering, creating moving, surprising, infectious music.

10pm-12am Late Night DJ @ Esoteric (corner of 17th St & Baltic Ave)

Sunday, May 14th: Mother’s Day

11am-1pm Joe McMurray @ Lynnhaven River Now – Mother’s Day Brunch (Corner of 18th St & Mediterranean Ave, private lot)
Joe McMurray is a guitarist, vocalist, music teacher and audio engineer based in Virginia Beach.

11am-2pm Jazz Brunch @ Commune featuring: TBD (Corner of 17th St and Baltic Ave) Artist TBD

11am-2pm Muddy Gems @ Java Surf Café and Espresso Bar (corner of 19th and Mediterranean)
The Muddy Gems play a blend of original tunes and a wide variety of covers.

11am-4pm Lynnhaven River Now – Art of Saving the River Festival featuring 40 fine artists (18th St Parklet and street between Cypress and Mediterranean Avenues)
