The Lynnhaven River is an estuarine system located entirely in the northern portion of the city of Virginia Beach. The 64 square mile land area that forms the Lynnhaven’s watershed is home to half of Virginia Beach’s residents. This densely populated region of the city feeds polluted storm water to the Lynnhaven River reducing water quality and closing portions of the river to shell fish harvest.
